Infinétude
In the spring of 2025, I will premiere a new work for six dancers, including myself. It is my largest self-produced piece to date. In Infinétude I will work with five fantastic dancers who are all musicians at the same time: Anja Mûller, Roger Sala Reyner, Alen Nsambu, Anna Fitoussi and Elliot Marmousset. All five of them have an incredible capacity to involve their whole being in the performative; through their voices, their movements and their words. They also all have a gift for creating sensitive, trembling, vibrating choreographic material, the power of which is its fragility as much as its strength. In addition to the five performers I will work with costume and fashion designer Behnaz Aram, with the light designer Sandra Liscano and the dramaturge Igor Dobričic.
Infinétude is a performance where six people join to create sounded and danced rhythms together. The performance is as much a concert for six voices as it is a dance performance for six bodies. The creating of abstract layered patterns become the baseline on top of which reflective language enters; through conversation between the dancers and spoken address to the audience as well as through written texts and song lyrics. The reflective might then again suddenly be inverted and dissolved into patterns, abstractions and formplay. The thinking we are circling around is that of abstraction and emotions, trying to pay attention to and amplify the joy of a syncopation, the sorrow of a timbre of the voice, the resistance invoked by a certain movement, the politics of a melody and so forth and so on. Polyrhythmic being, multiplicity, porosity and the ability to both listen and act becomes ways to practice being, dancing, singing and thinking together.
